I wonder if we (as redheads) have any Irish heritage. My people sometimes call me "David O'Furrifur" and stuff like that.
There's a human writer called Mark Twain who seems to think that redheaded people evolved from felines!! He said:
"While the rest of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats."
Do any of you live with redheaded people? Do they act like you?

Re: orange tabbies...
Thu, April 29, 2004 - 8:22 PMNot only am I an orange tabby...but I'm a tuxedo orange tabby...BOOYEA!
My wackityab is not a redhead. (As you can tell from her picture). But my wab likes the alcohol though. (Because she gave me Mellon(tini) has my last name).
And I think she does act like me since we're both obnoxious and stubborn. -

Re: orange tabbies...
Fri, April 30, 2004 - 1:36 PMOrange tabbies do indeed rock! No matter what color your clothing, our sheddings show up on it quite nicely!
My WAB is Irish, and loves the Guiness. She doesn't REALLY have red hair, but she has dyed it red for so long that she thinks she's a redhead. And she hates the sun, so she has the fair skin to go with the (fake) res hair.
I'm named after a very well-known redheaded Irishman, Conan O'Brien. I think I'm more handsome, though. What do you ladies think? -

Re: orange tabbies...
Fri, April 30, 2004 - 7:40 PMHahaha...back when my wab was in college she dyed her hair all different colours of the rainbow. So since she super bleached for hair for so many years her hair has permanently turned into a super dark subtle brown. So she now dyes it blue black all the time so she won't look like a FOB. My wab hates FOBS.
My wab also hates the sun but she tans super easily too.
And you are a super handsome cat Conan! -

Re: orange tabbies...
Thu, June 3, 2004 - 9:45 AMWe orange Tabbies are the baddest! "Her Majesty" picked me out of all others from the evil feline jail in San Francisco. I was doing hard time and she decided that I would do well on a work furlough program. I've been with HM to this day. Ginger, orange, pumpkin...whatever we're called we're the 'bomb.' -

Re: orange tabbies...
Thu, June 3, 2004 - 1:00 PMI was from the big house in SF too! Where'd you serve time? I spent my times at the SFSPCA. -
-
Re: orange tabbies...
Thu, June 3, 2004 - 3:19 PMI was #5009551 at the County AS - HIgh Security Ward. I went by Tomo in my hardened days. (I'm still pretty Badass..but don't wanna go back there). I went in on 4/11/94 and was release on the work furlough program on 4/30/94. Interestingly enough, I was going to the chair that day...but HM had my number from a previous inspection, and said hey - "That bad ass cat is mine." Although I was real sick at the time, they let her take me out and rehabilitate my fine furry self, or as much as she thinks she has.
When did you get out?
W.S. (AKA 500951 - TOMO) -

Re: orange tabbies...
Thu, June 3, 2004 - 6:39 PMWas that the SF ACC or some other shelter? I served my time approximately 5/00-8/00. Someone turned me into the big house as a wee kitten. I was adopted by someone else but I got returned (probably because I'm a punkass). So my wab snatched my up when she was there. The SFSPCA gave me a ghetto name and called me Lorraine. -

Re: orange tabbies...
Thu, June 3, 2004 - 9:12 PMPSSSTTT! I created a tribe just for us orange cats. (orangemongers.tribe.net) Grey cats can have a tribe of they own and so can we! bwahahaha!

Re: orange tabbies...
Fri, June 4, 2004 - 11:14 AMThat was the SF ACC...it was the old one...all green and nasty rusty cages. There was one nice guard there though...Nettie...she would sell me nip on the sly. Turned HM onto my fine self during one inspection.

Re: orange tabbies...
Fri, June 4, 2004 - 11:44 AMMy wab got her previous cat from the SF ACC. My wab knows some of the officers who pick up animals off the street since the SF ACC works with the hospital she works at (Pets Unlimited). -

Re: orange tabbies...
Sun, June 6, 2004 - 8:44 AMHey! I had a "pound name" when I was in the Big House down here in Big D. They called me "Fred"... -
-
Re: orange tabbies...
Sun, June 6, 2004 - 8:54 AMMan, my pound name was just awful. Goldie. How could anybody mistake me for a labrador?
(Unless they meant that geezer with metal teeth instead. I could live with that.) -

Re: orange tabbies...
Sun, June 6, 2004 - 11:56 AMI was in a nice new jail when I was a youngster--the Houston SPCA. There's a whole television show on it. My pound name was Savanna. Ick.
Lupin was in the old Houston SPCA which was a true dump of a jail. And to make matters worse, they called her Grady! She soon was rightly dubbed Lupin, aka Lupinus Texicanus after theTX state flower.
And that Blue Boy I live with was in jail in Pittsburgh. Strangely enough, his pound name was Gus. Two "g" names for the grey cats.
And I have to add that I am so proud that all you handsome ginger/orange fellows invited me to join the orange cat tribe. As a tortie, I have as much ginger in me as my girlishness would allow, but those are my favorite parts of my fur. My orange blaze, bib, tummy stripes and random spots are glowing with ginger pride!
Conan--you are far handsomer than your namesake!
