Attention Dogs!
The person I live with has a friend who is training to be professional dog trainer. She just sent us some interesting information that some of your people might find useful:
......................
Did you know the majority of problem behaviour can be "cured" with proper exercise? This does not mean a walk or 2 or 3 around the neighbourhood. This means hard core running, jumping and turning for a minimum of 2 hours per day. For a medium to large-size dog, this quality and quantity of exercise is optimum.
If you're finding your dog digs, chews inappropriately, barks non-stop or chases the cat mercilessly, try giving your dog a minimum of 2 hours of exercise (yes, you'll have to get up earlier!) for 5 days. After 5 days, you can cut it back to 1.5 hours. Most of the problem behaviour should disappear.
.......................
...I hear this works for human children too!

Re: behavior & exercise
Thu, May 27, 2004 - 2:13 PMMy mama makes me exercise for an average of an hour a day and man that's too much. I want to be fat and lazy. I want to eat cheese and drink beer. I think I'll see if she'll move my pillow closer to the TV. 2 hours, you're killing me. -

Thu, July 1, 2004 - 5:58 PMMy Mommy always says "A good dog is a tired dog"
I always try to convince her that a good dog is a dog stuffed full of good treats!
But I must admit, I do love games of fetch! -

Re: behavior & exercise
Thu, July 1, 2004 - 6:01 PMOh by the way...I did notice that there are quite a few on this board that are of the feline persuasion and I just want you to know for the record, that I have never chased a cat in my life.
I have great respect for cats.
Caught couple mice myself even, and my mom even says I'm "part cat".
Just wanted to let you know..... -

Re: behavior & exercise
Sun, July 4, 2004 - 12:40 PMThat's good! Because in my house I am the alpha. The "dog" that lives here may be 70lbs..but he was trained by the felines. He sleeps with my brother Winslow.
A mouse catcher huh? And it looks like you are part orange too? Are you orange? Do you wrestle?

Sun, July 4, 2004 - 2:33 PMYes. Indeeed. Are you orange and do you wrassle?
BECAUSE IF YOU ARE THEN YOU TOTALLY NEED TO JOIN THE SEXY ORANGE CAT WRASSLING TEAM!
You should totally join even if you aren't orange. Or a cat. Or alive even.
